QUETTA – Shahzain Bugti, the provincial president of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) and grandson of slain Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, Thursday rejected the ban imposed on his and his brother’s movement and said he would claim compensation from the government for the loss of millions of rupees suffered daily.
He was talking to reporters after the hearing of his petition challenging the government order of restricting his movement. Shahzain said during the hearing, the learned judge of the Balochistan High Court sought the clarification from the government counsel on blocking his family’s entry into Dera Bugti despite the fact that there was no ban on their movement.
The court also asked why the two brothers were not being allowed to move in Quetta city while restriction was meant for outside the provincial capital. The JWP leader said the government would have to pay the daily loss to the tune of Rs25 million, adding that he would soon file another petition in the court of law demanding the compensation.
Shahzain said the ban was aimed at foiling the planned long March towards Dera Bugti along with hundreds of IDPs. He also claimed that 150,000 people were stuck in the middle of their journey in various cities of Punjab, Sindh and Punjab, as he was supposed to lead the march.
He said they did not come from India and were true Pakistanis and wanted to go to his ancestral town, but the government was not allowing him to do so.
