Role of Police in maintenance of law and order in the society is vital and ensures a peaceful society. Unfortunately, policemen are sometimes involved in serious crimes. For instance, two constables were dismissed from their duties by the IG Police in Quetta for their alleged involvement in a rape case.
These cases increase the disappointment level among the population and their mistrust on police increases. This trend needs to be discouraged; otherwise the feeling of lawlessness will increase. The situation is better in large cities, but rural and suburban areas are particularly neglected. It is important to set examples so that those who are responsible for maintenance of law and order must not indulge in lawless and immoral activities. I hope that with a free and independent judiciary, the overall condition of the country will improve in the coming years.
