KARACHI – The Karachi airport unit of the Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell (DEC) seized 5kg hashish from an outbound courier parcel at the air export point.
On receiving information that underground drug trafficking mafia was using household goods and utensils for concealing drugs, the DEC staff intercepted an outbound courier package comprising a wooden crate, which was booked by Abid Mahmood from Attock in the name of Muhammad Murad at an address in Hong Kong.
A detailed examination of the crate containing 80-piece porcelain dinner set, led to the recovery of fine quality hashish, which was artfully concealed in specially carved out cavities in the four side walls of the wooden container. This year, the DEC has intercepted five outbound courier packages booked for Thailand, Cyprus, Canada, Dhaka and Hong Kong and seized a sizeable quantity of heroin and hashish concealed in text books, leather jackets, suitcases and shoes, etc.
