Why celebrations?

I was coming back to my home the other night and saw fireworks, dancing and people gathering for rally. All people have the right to enjoy and celebrate happiness but it seems really like a bad taste in the mouth when the Unicef report, published a day before in newspapers, said that due to 2010 floods, people of Sindh province are suffering from malnutrition which was as dreadful as the poorest parts of Sub-Saharan Africa.

Pertaining to that fact their act seemed really awkward to me. The people do not have food to fill their stomachs, they are dying from malnutrition and they do not have shelters. The cost of living is getting higher and higher daily. Such celebrations could be done in a simpler way considering the present circumstances.
