The sad incident of two men being killed by an American incident on Pakistani soil is indeed reprehensible. The law and order situation in Pakistan is shaky at best and the fact that a foreign citizen was in possession of a weapon and a vehicle demonstrate that.
This is a very sensitive issue that has enraged many citizens of Pakistan especially because many innocent Pakistani are treated very badly on American soil if they are trapped in such a scenario. The American authorities should let the man be tried under Pakistani law as he has committed a heinous crime in Pakistan.
The government and the police should ensure that justice is served and the fact that this incident has received a lot of media coverage calls for transparency in its proceedings. The media should play a responsible role and not enrage the people either.
It should also refrain from idle speculation that that minister tried to get the accused free, that that minister hindered the registration of an FIR etc unless they have concrete proof that the due process of justice is being hampered. Lets hope that justice will be served and that the facts will be brought in front of the public.
