ISLAMABAD – The Establishment Division on Friday submitted to the Supreme Court a list of nine senior law enforcement officers who are employed on a contractual basis. These officers include Sindh Inspector General of Police Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khatak BPS 22; Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Waseem Ahmed BPS 21; Intelligence Bureau Karachi Director Tariq Jamil; Larkana DIG Deen Muhammad Baloch; Sindh DIG Khurram Gulzar; Lahore AIG Railways Akhtar Hayat; Nadir Hussain Khoso; Asghar Mehmood and Gilgit-Baltistan DIG Farman Ali.
Hearing a suo motu case against the alleged corruption in Haj arrangements, the Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Establishment Division secretary to furnish a list of all police officers including the FIA director general appointed on a contractual basis.
The court had asked the Establishment Division secretary to also furnish the reasons for the necessity and the interest of the government for allowing them to continue with such posts like IG and DG, which are of high importance and the persons occupying these posts are supposed to be responsible to ensure the rule of law in the country. The Establishment Division has to furnish reply to this effect by January 27.
