Women in society are as important as men. In fact, both men and women make it possible for society to exist and progress. The position of women in our society on the whole is not very satisfactory. Most of our women are living in villages. They are uneducated and uncultured. They do not enjoy many rights. Very few women enjoy independent positions. For a society to make progress, women education is necessary. Education is compulsory for both men and women in Islam. Women are not second-rate citizens they have a very honourable place in Islam. Women in advanced countries are working side by side with men.

Women can play an active part in every field of life. They are working in colleges, in schools, factories, offices and universities. They have proved themselves good doctors, nurses and workers. It is their education which enables them to perform all such duties in an appropriate manner. Women are nation builders. If they are well-educated they produce good citizens by training them well.

But it is regrettable that our women, especially of rural areas, are uneducated. They work in fields along with the farmers. There are no proper facilities for them. By educating the women, our society can produce better mothers, better wives and better nation builders. We should facilitate them according to the Islamic principles.

In most of the countries, there is co-education system. This system is an obstacle. The advocates of this system say that in this way girls get rid of shyness. They know how to deal with men. It is economical for poor countries like Pakistan. A healthy competition among girls and boys develops. In our country, parents do not allow their daughters to study with the boys. Thus girls are deprived of their rights. The only solution of this problem is that there should be separate universities for women. This will make the career for women brighter if they are provided with proper facilities. Women education is necessary because almost every field demands good women employees or workers, and if they are educated they can do better. They also work for the progress of the country.
