ISLAMABAD – Expressing serious concern over unabated spate of killings of innocent people and political workers in Karachi, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz central spokesperson Ahsan Iqbal has demanded the government take the National Assembly into confidence and apprise lawmakers of the details of the tragic incidents.
In a statement on Friday, Ahsan Iqbal demanded a comprehensive briefing on killings that, he said, have shaken the entire nation.
“It is a matter of grave concern that the number of the Karachi people dying of bullet since the previous year has gone beyond even the casualties of the operation against terrorists over the same period of time. The rapid deterioration in law and order condition in the biggest city is the source of fretfulness for all Pakistanis,” he observed.
But what remains inconceivable is that all the parties to the conflict in Karachi are part of coalition governments at the center and in the province of Sindh who have not only failed in restoring peace in the city but also miserably faltered in unmasking the forces behind the catastrophe.
The PML-N spokesperson said the shedding of blood and arson in this city of lights is a conspiracy not only against its people but the vast population of Pakistan. “The situation demands a quick and expeditious remedial step and healing of wounds as an import aspect of the national obligation, said Ahsan.
The sooner the corrective measures are taken, the better, said Ahsan Iqbal adding that the PML-N is prepared for any responsibility and effective role in returning peace to Karachi.
