LAHORE – Shabab-e-Islami will resist any government action against Mufti Hanif Qureshi and the people favoring the late governor should keep in mind his beliefs as well, said Shabab-i-Islami’s leaders while speaking to demonstrators outside Lahore Press Club on Wednesday. Liaqat Attari, Hafiz Abdul Qadir Hazarvi, Allama Mujahid and Qari Mukhtar termed Pope Benedict’s statement as an effort to sow the seeds of hatred and a clash among civilizations. These leaders said that efforts to change the blasphemy laws were patronized by the West.
“We are the supporters of Mumtaz Hussain Qadri and will remain so. The Government is aspiring to snub Qadri’s support by taking action against sunni ulema, which we will no allow,” they said.
‘MMA’s revival expected’: Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith Chief Prof Sajid Mir said on Tuesday that there were chances of Mutahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA)’s revival after Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam- Fazalullah (JUI F) left the government. He was addressing a press conference at the Lahore Airport after return from Saudi Arabia. He stated that whosoever termed the blasphemy law a ‘black law’ was a desecrator.
