KARACHI – The Sindh Madressatul Islam College (SMIC) on Tuesday conducted interviews of students, who had cleared the placement test for admission in four-year BS Education programme.
SMIC Principal Dr Muhammad Ali Sheikh along with other members of the interview committee conducted the interviews. The college has already selected students for the four-year BS Mass Communication programme.
Sheikh said that the classes for BS programmes would commence from January 17 and the selected candidates should submit their fees and related documents before the date.
“The Sindh Madressatul Islam is starting degree classes for the first time in its 125-year history in collaboration with the University of Karachi,” he said, adding, “Students enrolled for BS programmes at the SMIC shall receive a 4-year degree from the University of Karachi.”
Sheikh said the students who succeeded in getting admission to the alma mater of Quaid-e-Azam are fortunate because they can relate themselves with the historic institution that played a leading role in the Pakistan Movement.
“Mass communication students would be imparted theoretical as well as practical education at the college as theoretical learning only cannot enable a student to understand journalism,” he said.
He said that the country’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, as the All-India Muslim League president, had inaugurated the college section of Sindh Madressa in 1943 and after 68 years, the SMIC has started degree classes.
