LAHORE – The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Monday arrested Lahore Arts Council (LAC) Programme Deputy Director Zulfiqar Ahmad Zulfi red handed while taking bribe for allotting dates for a stage play. Play producer Muhammad Siddiq had submitted an application to the ACE alleging that Zulfi received Rs 70,000 from him as a bribe for allotting dates for staging a play at the Alhamra Arts Council and was demanding Rs 20,000 more. An ACE team consisting of ACE Deputy Director Riffat Malhi, Circle Officer Inspector Umar Farooq and a magistrate arrested Zulfi after currency notes bearing the numbers, which were given to the ACE by Siddiq were recovered from the LAC deputy director’s procession. ACE Lahore Region Director Maqbool Ahmad Langa said that a first information report (FIR) has been registered against Zulfi for taking the bribe and he would be presented before a magistrate today (Tuesday) for attaining his physical remand.
