LAHORE – Sunday was another day when CNG stations remained non-functional, invoking protests and exhausting citizens as they searched for gas. Manawan locals protested against the aggravating gas shortage in the city. Meanwhile citizens also suffered Sui gas shortage.
Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited has stopped gas supplies to the CNG stations and the industrial sector to facilitate domestic users but consistent gas outages faced by citizens continued on Sunday. The government has increased gas holidays from one to two and locals were seen complaining about the prevalent gas situation in the city. “We can’t cook, we can’t travel and we can’t earn,” said Ehtisham Ali, a rickshaw driver.
As cold weather intensifies locals hope that the government will completely restore gas. The gas-less areas included Johar Town, Wapda Town, College Road, Wahdat Road, Jail Road, Ferozpur Road, Mughalpura, Dharampura, Cantonment, DHA and Model Town.
