There has been another chilling case of Taliban chopping a hand of a tribesman after he was found guilty of committing theft in Orakzai. The tribesman was presented in front of the Shariat Court of the Tehrik-e-Taiban Pakistan (TTP) where he was convicted. The severing of the hand was done publicly witnessed by the locals. This is yet another public demonstration by the TTP to prove their authority and undermine the states control. It is imperative that these activities of the TTP should be curtailed in future as they continuously create an environment of fear through their kangaroo courts while also openly violating the writ of the government.
