Yesterday, the Taliban chopped off the hand of a man in front of the locals in the Orakzai agency. He was accused of theft. On Sunday, the TTP also slit the throat of a person named Gulbat Khan alleging him of spying for the security forces. Both these incidents were carried under the pretext of “Sharia Law” that Taliban want to establish in the region.
Army is claiming that 90 percent of the agency has been cleared from the influence of the Taliban. However, these two incidents happening in close proximity are telling a different story. It is true that the locals of Orakzai were held captive by the TTP, but recently the efforts of Army and the local peace lashkars have improved the condition. Army has recently declared that due to limited resources, it cannot continue with large scale operations.
It is important for the people of this country to stand united against the extremist forces and play their part as active citizens of the state so that the Taliban and other like minded groups dont get successful in their evil plans.
