Governor Punjab, Salmaan Taseers assassination has brought mourning to many people especially of the PPP. This incident that took place in the start of the year 2011 does bode well for this year and the country. We have lost our image in the international comity of nations due to this incident the image. Pakistans growth and prestige as a nation is severely becoming stinted by such incidents. Salmaan Taseer was murdered by an Elite Forces security guard who was not happy with his statements regarding the case of a Christian woman who had been implicated in a case of blasphemy. According to the statement of the guard, he did so because Salmaan called the Blasphemy Law a black law. This is an act of extremism. The murder of the Governor took place due to extremist elements and fundamentalists ideology in the country.
Some even have appreciated this murder. The tolerance of the people in our country is on the edge; maybe minorities do not deserve space in a so-called Islamic country. Chaudhry Shujaat has said rightly that instead of repealing the blasphemy laws, we all must bring another law that could ensures a better method of its implementation. How could one kill in the name of the same Prophet (PBUH) who said that if you kill one person, you kill the entire humanity!
