Alarming as it may sound, but it has become a routine in most cases, that the police arrest or harass the friends and family members of the accused. This is done, in order to pressurize the accused / criminal to cooperate with the police. These friends, family members or relatives have no connection to the crime committed, but still the police harass them and detain them, as if they are the accomplices. This activity carried out by the police is not only unethical but also illegal. Public should be made aware of their rights, while the police should be discouraged from resorting to such activities.
