It is a general complaint among the public that the police are only serving the elite or other government officials. It is to be realised both by the police and public that the police are on the payroll of the government. The revenue for their salaries is generated by the taxes which the public pays to the government. In the end, the public is paying for the police and the institution is there to serve them.
It is our duty as law abiding citizens to pressurise the legislature to depoliticise the institution. Furthermore, we should discourage and should not support those political or public figures who exploit this institution for personal purposes.
