Politics seems to follow the rules of self-interest only, at least in Pakistan. The PPP is in trouble; for its own sake, it wants to get the help of PML(Q) but the latter put forward its demands which, of course, were rejected by the former. Now that the PPP government has shown that its not inclined towards getting the PML(Q) in its fold in the federal coalition, and that it would have to cede the post of CM in Punjab if they form a coalition in the province, the PML(Q) leaders must be feeling a bad taste in their mouths.
Also the party knows it cannot hope to win enough seats to form a majority in the wake of PML(N) being too strong. Their hopes to have a go at the government have been dashed. The situation has become a sort of equal to the proverb: The grapes are sour.
