Salmaan Taseer has been shot dead by one of his official gunmen. Apart from being the Governor, he was a leading businessman and a social worker as well. He had to face strong resistance from the mainstream religious parties when he helped Aasia Bibi, a blasphemy accused, in getting immunity from the President.
This act of terrorism is due to the teachings of extremists and religious hardliners. We must condemn such incidents. I extend my deepest sorrow to the family and friends of Salmaan Taseer.
