NATO container gutted, FC men defuse landmine

QUETTA – Unidentified armed men set a NATO container on fire here on Monday while Frontier Corps Balochistan on Monday defused a landmine in another incident. In a raid here the local police also siezed 1000 kilograms of hashish.
During routine patrol Frontier Corps personnel spotted a landmine in Muchh area, some 70 KM southeast of Quetta. They called in mine-sweepers and defused the mine. Separately, a container carrying NATO supplies was coming from Karachi, when armed assailants stopped it and set it on fire. The incident took place in Choto area of Mastung district.
The driver and cleaner remained unharmed. Meanwhile, the crime branch police on a tip-off recovered 100 kg of hashish from a goods truck. The police had signaled the Karachi-bound truck to stop in Mian Ghundi area, but the driver tried to flee. After a chase, the driver and the cleaner stopped the truck and fled into the mountains.
A through search of the vehicle led to recovery of 100 kg of hashish. Police impounded the truck and registered a case against the owner of the vehicle and the driver. Man shot dead: Unknown assailants gunned down a man in the border town of Punjgoor on Monday.
Imtiaz Ahmad, a resident of Punjgoor, was standing at a roadside when two armed men attacked him. He received multiple bullet injuries and died while he was being transported to a hospital. Police were yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing till the filling of this story.
