ISLAMABAD – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has decided to expand the scope of the inquiry into Benazir Bhutto’s murder by including officials of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
FIA Prosecutor Chaudhry Zulfikar said on Thursday that during the investigations, senior police officials had named some ISI, MI and IB officials. “We will also interrogate these officials,” he told reporters after court proceedings on Thursday. He said whoever found involved would be included in the probe.
Zulfikar said the FIA would recover private mobile phone sets of police officers for running forensic tests. “We are looking at various aspects related to security on December 27, 2007,” he said. Though he did not name the ISI, MI and IB officials, he said former Rawalpindi CPO Saud Aziz and former SP Khurram Shahzad had told the FIA about these intelligence officials.
Earlier, the Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) awarded a six-day physical remand for Saud Aziz and Khurram Shehzad. FIA had sought a 12-day remand, but the judge did not accept the plea.
