According to a handbook published by Shehri-Citizens for a better environment in collaboration with the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI), there is a serious shortage of police personnel and stations across the country.

According to the handbook that is named 101 things you wanted to know about police but were too afraid to ask the international standards demand 230 police personnel for every 100,000 people. However, in Pakistan we only have 128 police officers for the said population. Apart from this, there are a total of 637 police stations in Punjab, 466 in Sindh, 215 in KPK, 156 in Baluchistan and 16 in the federal capital. The efforts of Shehri in creating responsibility among the citizens and the police to cooperate and work on mutual lines are appreciable. Being the responsible citizens of this state, all of us need to play positive roles to rid ourselves of the menace of terrorism.
