LAHORE: According to Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) reports power shortfall reduced to zero megawatts on Friday and Saturday but even then citizens experienced a one-hour power outage in the morning and one in the evening.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) gave an old excuse saying that only commercial feeders were shut down and domestic users on those feeders had to face load shedding. More than 50 percent feeders in the city were commercial and a large number of domestic users were supplied electricity through these feeders. The LESCO, instead of finding an alternate to the solution, kept depriving the domestic users of electricity.
βOn papers, there has been no load shedding for the last two months but in reality we are facing it twice a day,β said a consumer Majid Bhatti, suggesting that LESCO should find a permanent solution to this problem.
PEPCO sources said electricity demand stayed low during Ashura because of a closure of offices and industries but the demand will rise this week when schools, businesses, industries, offices and banks will open.
