The higher the electricity tariff goes, the faster the electricity metre works. The authorities in the country had decided to install the so-called smart metres sometimes ago, you know the ones which would bleed your pocket like sand from hand. This menace of electrical equipment is produced to speed up when you put extra burden on your electric circuit but with a little caveat. It takes into account the usage of electric power consumed by the entire population. So basically, you are not being charged at the rate of your consumption, rather are being punished for the consumption of entire country. This has escalated the prices to humongous levels.
Being a nation of lazy bones, we have cultivated an attitude of indifference towards such arbitrary actions by the governments. Rather than producing more electricity, the focus is on rationing this utility, creating further problems for the consumers.
