Remembering Dec 16th

The December 16th 1971 was one of the saddest days in the history of this country. But the question is: have we learnt any lesson from this chapter? No is the answer.

Maulvi A K Fazal-e-Haq was a Bengali, who on 23rd March 1940 presented Pakistan Resolution, just after two years he was labelled as traitor by the top notch of this part of Pakistan. Justice Hamood-ur-Rehman Commission Report has unveiled what happened to the students of Dhaka University and pretty much everything else we did during the Operation Searchlight

Our strategies and actions resulted in disaster and a shameful fate. It is quite amazing that the hero of 1965 War on Chawinda Front was declared and tagged a coward, traitor and Mr Zero in the war of 1971. Even after these many years, it has become a routine when we see on TV channels people protesting about missing persons, with at least 20,000 of them from Balochistan only.

Can anyone tell why do we label those as traitors who demand their rights? Thanks to the media, we know what happened to Dr Shazia in Balochistan. Yes, it was the same what happened to the only girl recovered from Dhaka University who was holding the Holy Quran.

Once again we are heading towards a catastrophic conclusion, this propensity not learning from past can prove fatal for the integrity of the country.
