There is a news everyday of someone disappearing under police custody or a person being illegally detained by the police. Their resurfacing points out to the fact that they are ignorant of their rights.
It is clear that the police cannot hold anyone without a formal arrest. It is also to be noted that if someone is being kept in illegal detention, the persons family can immediately approach the High Court or even the Supreme Court. Mental and physical torture carried out by police as a routine is also illegal. It is the duty of our society to disseminate this information to every individual so that they would not be further exploited.
