LAHORE: Shah Shamyl Alam won duel with brother Shah Qublai Alam as he led Silk Bank to the final of PSS Asia Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club on Friday.
Silk Bank with their 7-6 win over PSS International qualified for Sunday’s against Monnoo Polo.
Qublai provided lead to PSS International in the opening chukker with Hamza Mawaz Khan doubling it by the close of the first quarter.
Shamyl easily converted a 60 yarder but Hamza and Adnan Jilal Khan consolidated the PSS scoreline with two back-to-back goals. By the end of the second chukker, PSS were 4-1 ahead. But Shamyl came up with a stunning hat-trick to bring score to parity and later Mian Khurrum Munir gave Silk Bank winning lead.
Shamyl hit his fourth goal and his team’s sixth in a solo effort but Qublai did not allow them to run away with the match. He scored two back-to-back goals to finish the fourth chukker level by regulation time. The match was then extended to fifth chukker.
Shamyl gave heroic display and after getting a foul, easily converted an undefended 30-yearder to hit the winning goal thus getting a place for his team in the final against Monnoo Polo.
Ahsan Khan and Azhar Ali supervised the match.
