According to a US department cable leaked by WikiLeaks, the annual budget of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is Rs 365 million. Different names that this organisation works under along with the sources of their funding are also provided in this leak.
This was an alarming revelation as a number of organisations in the list are working openly gathering donations and public sympathies especially in regards to floods. For instance, Falah-e-Insaniat Foundations makeshift campaign offices were seen widely in big cities like Islamabad.
Even during the Eid days they were active in gathering hides of the sacrificial animals. It is important for all of us to understand the implications of such campaigns and how we contribute to our own demise by funding these organizations. It is a good time for realisation and the sooner we understand it, the better.
