Why we fight

As the war on terrorism is approaching its first decade, with Pakistan on the frontline, it is extremely frustrating to observe that our countrys populace is still confused on what we are fighting for. While our leaders, policy makers and tacticians are continuously busy planning to root out terrorism, our public is still not able to grasp the objectives of this war among all the conspiracy theories, slip-ups by policy makers and continuous political and economic instability. This has resulted in lack of support by the people for the war.

It is imperative that if not the government then leading media organizations and public figures should initiate the task to sensitize and educate the Pakistani public of this threat. It is also important for the government to take the people into confidence on its course to counter terrorism. Only then, by establishing public trust and support, we will be able to achieve our goals successfully and defeat this menace.
