ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase of 58 paisa per unit in the power tariff of Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC). The fresh hike in power tariff has been approved for the month of October in the form of fuel adjustment charges, while the raise would be applicable from January. During a public hearing, NEPRA on behalf of KESC had requested for an increase in power tariff as part of annual fuel adjustment.
NEPRA also raised its concern over the performance of power plants and stated that a hefty amount was spent in Bin Qasim Power Plant but desired results were not been achieved. It is pertinent to note that the increase in prices of electricity would not be applicable on life line consumers.
