NEW DELHI: Subhash Kapoor, director of ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’, a small budget comedy starring Neha Dhupia and Rajat Kapoor, says the film shows the repercussions of the global recession on the world of crime. “People see the global recession as a phenomena triggering unemployment and fall in market income.
But it had a deep impact on everyone and we have taken an initiative to portray this anxiety in a humourous way,” said director Subhash Kapoor during the special screening of the film. The director also claimed said that the December 3 release is the first film to be made on the economic crisis` effects on the crime world. “It occurred to me that the late recession which became a global phenomena must have had an impact on the underworld activities as well.
Then we hit upon the idea to make a film on this serious subject matter in a rib-tickling manner,” he added. Phas Gaye…` revolves around a NRI who gets kidnapped by a small gang, which later on entangles others in the crime world as well as a minister. The hilarious climax shows the various groups fighting over the ransom money.
