Frivolous questions

Recently a programme on a private TV channel was telecast in which an interviewer asked the US Ambassador to Pakistan about her age and the colour of lipstick used by her. Those were highly personal and inappropriate questions to be asked by the interviewer which was in a bad taste and reflected poorly on the sloppy character of the interviewer.

The TV channel ought to have sent an accomplished woman interviewer for the occasion so as to avoid unsavoury questions. It was obvious that the interviewer was posing as a candid journalist without realizing he was questioning a woman in such a nonchalant manner. Such lapses ought to be avoided by these channels as the viewers do not appreciate such low levels of journalism.

It is up to the channels to take care of such issues as there is no regulatory and monitoring body over these channels. The only thuing that makes their functioning smooth and error-free is the medias own code of conduct developed by media channels and newspapers.
