ISLAMABAD: Accountability in capital police could be ensured by setting up Departmental Enquiry Penal (DEP) that could help promoting community policing, said former Interior Secretary Kamal Shah while addressing a seminar entitled ‘Relations between Police and Community, Reality or Idealism’ organised by Islamabad police at Pakistan National Council of Art (PNCA) on Tuesday.
If police force was unable to conduct its internal accountability then it should not be considered as a force, Shah said adding that the establishment of DEP in the capital police would play vital role in ensuring internal accountability. Shah said that community policing had five basic features; service orientation, partnership, problem solving, empowerment and accountably
From constable to IGP, every person should take initiative for participation in community policing. Every person from a common man to VIP must have access to police officials who should listen to their complaints without any, Shah added.
