The US President has recently said that Pakistan was making progress against the “cancer” of extremism, but not quickly enough, and added that his host India had the biggest stake in its rival’s success. The statement doesnt appear to be shocking because US never seemed to be satisfied with Pakistans efforts. Demands for do more remain constant despite grave costs paid by Pakistan due to its so called policy of war on terror. May be he is right in saying that it is not enough from Pakistans side because he is still unable to achieve some of his goals in Pakistan, so ultimately, India became the biggest stakeholder in rivals success.
The US has been playing a double game with Islamabad, sometimes by persuading it with economic and military aid, and sometimes by condemning it of supporting the Taliban in Afghanistan. But now the double game is fading and US is very open in valuing India and complaining Pakistan.
Barak Obama lately said that Pakistan had to help in the development of Afghanistan, whereas he appreciated the Indians investment in Afghanistan and said that Pakistan had to be a partner in this process. The US wants India as a regional superpower in order to counter China. In order to pursuit this goal, the US is strengthening its relations with India as Obama has recently announced $10 billion trade deals with India and supported a UNSC permanent seat for India.
After knowing all this, the Chinese delegations statement that Pakistan is our Israel seems to be very pleasant, the statement was passed When a US delegate once confronted a Chinese diplomat about Beijings uncompromising support for Pakistan, the Chinese reportedly responded with a heavily-loaded sarcastic remark: “Pakistan is our Israel”. No doubt China is a very good friend of Pakistan and Pakistan should vow to strengthen its strategic and economics ties with China and other countries as demanded by the time
