The recent scare of parcel bombs that were targeted for synagogues in the US has brought to focus an important issue. There is an urgent need to have an oversight committee over these privately run courier companies that may be used for any incident of terrorism.
Luckily, our government is mulling over the proposal of establishing a Courier Regularity Authority that would be dealing with the issues of unwarranted and unchecked courier business. If the project is executed properly and lacks no transparency, it could be of great use to the society and the state. Basically, the lack of such an Authority could be too disastrous as the terrorists are getting tech-savvy and modern in their warfare.
The federal and provincial intelligence agencies should work together in this regard. They must come up with a fool proof program that helps the government in keeping an eye on this line of business while not causing any hurdle to their business.
