I cannot stop myself from appreciating the audacity of the Pakistan government which is trying its level best to drown the consumers in the ocean of increasing prices.

The surge in the prices of electricity, LPG, CNG, and now the petroleum products has added to the woes of the general public. On Sunday, the Government has increased the prices of petroleum products up to 9 percent in line with the increase in global oil prices effective from November 1.

In reality, the filling stations stop serving the consumers the night before the raise in prices is announced in order to fleece higher prices from them. Rickshaws, taxis and other local transport have also increased their fares overnight. There is absolutely no law to protect the public from such unfair price hikes. On the other hand, the petrol pump owners blame it on the international higher prices of petroleum products.

Similarly, sugar is currently being sold at Rs 90 per kg in the market. The sugar dealers blame mill owners for this inflation while the Pakistan Sugar Mills Associating claims that it is only due to the factors beyond their control.

The government decreases the prices in paisas and increases them in rupees. This trend of price hike can be checked if the government stops being selfish and sincerely thinks about providing comfort to the masses.
