This is with reference to the news report that the certain sections of Lahore Ring Road (LRR) project have been delayed again. This project was devised in the early 90s when its cost was around 7 billion rupees whereas it has crossed 150 billion rupees now. Further delay might be too burdensome on the flailing economy of the province.
The LRR project was considered to be a high speed, direct connection of the citys main roads to the National Highways and Motorway. It has many flyovers, bridges, interchanges and many other facilities to help the traffic of heavy and light nature. This project is also necessary for the continuous movement of heavy traffic in and out of the city, which is otherwise forced to enter the city jurisdiction only at night.
Rather than delaying the project, the government must finish it on an urgent basis.
