The recent increase in the prices of oil and petroleum products by OGRA is another deadly strike at the consumers. The governments decision of passing the changes in oil prices in the international markets to the consumers somehow works only in the upward direction.
Basically, it has become a dance; one step ahead and two steps back. The government reduces the prices in paisas and increases in rupees. Even if the government has to increase the prices, such a steep rise casts negative aspersions on the credibility of countrys economic managers.
Serious efforts should be made to control the prices to let the consumers swim rather than drown in the sea of increasing prices.
