Lahore has long been suffering from traffic jams and every hour is rush hour in this city. The Punjab government has shelved plans of the mass transit system that would have greatly improved the situation. This project was shelved before the floods hit. Thus, the government cannot use the excuse that the funds were directed towards flood relief. Even if they were, it should be worth restarting even at a slow pace. There are literally no public alternatives for transport in the city. The city has developed as such that nobody can carry out their daily routine without a proper source of mobility which is a huge problem for those who cannot afford cars and the rising prices of fuel.
