Changing channels

The Punjab government recently imposed a ban on a Hindu cartoon that airs on television. The Punjab government has never had a good track record with making such laws.

I remember the hilarious law which aimed at curbing youth corruption by restricting SMS and the call packages that various telecom companies were offering. Doesnt the Punjab government have more important stuff to do like helping flood victims, controlling inflation and good governance in general.

The fact that they spent six working days debating this is even more preposterous. Changing the channel when the cartoon is on air would have been easier. People who want to show it to their children can and those who dont can just use parental control. The Punjab governments actions have made it impossible for those who would like their children to know about other cultures. But, I guess this didnt occur to our legislators in six days of brainstorming.
