‘Punjab Food Quality Control Authority’s first draft prepared’

LAHORE: Recommendations for the first draft of the Food Safety and Standard Act 2010 and the Punjab Food Quality Control Authority have been finalised and the second draft would be prepared in light of these proposals and submitted to the special committee formed by the Punjab CM, Punjab Health Secretary Irfan Elahi said on Monday.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting in the committee room of the Civil Secretariat, Lahore. The meeting reviewed in detail the methodology for the act’s enactment. According to the act, nobody would be allowed to deal in items of daily use without attaining a proper license.
The meeting also reviewed the prosecution, sampling and testing procedure mentioned in the act. In the first phase, the act would be enforced in Lahore and later in other cities of Punjab.
