LAHORE
The Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) appointed Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi as the second provost of LUMS for a three-year term, on Wednesday.
His appointment is effective as Chief Academic Officer of the university. Dr. Qureshi will be responsible to monitor academic activities, office of students’ affairs, the registrar and the library in coordination with the office of the vice chancellor. The provost works closely with the deans of the Suleman Dawood School of Business, the School of Science and Engineering and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He will collaborate in the strategic planning and budgeting of academic programs and academic and research initiatives.
Dr. Qureshi earned his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and is the author of three books on management and the senior editor of two books on non-profit sector. Dr. Qureshi has served as the Dean of the School of Management at Forman Christian College University, the managing director at the National Institute of Banking and Finance, the chairman of the Accreditation Committee of the Government of Punjab, the honorary chairman for the Chief Minister’s Punjab Strategy and Innovation Unit and the chairman Department of Public and Business Administration at Quaid-e-Azam University.
