Punjab University (PU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran advised students to learn from the Afghans. The statement of the vice chancellor surprised students as it was interpreted as supportive of the Taliban. PU Director Public Relation Khawaja Tahir stated that the VC’s statement only meant to advise hard work.
Addressing a grand reception hosted in honor of over 2000 newly- admitted students, the vice-chancellor stated that apart from textbooks, students should foster the habit of reading books on history, culture and literature to widen their intellectual horizons.
Dr Kamran said the youth of Pakistan is blessed with abundant creative and intellectual faculties which can be sharpened through sheer dedication and hard work. He said that Pakistan has attained the status of the solitary atomic power in the Islamic world due to her highly qualified and devoted scientists. He advised students to achieve superiority in knowledge and education in order to live up to their responsibility of leading the nation, safeguarding its independence and protecting it against internal and external enemies.
