A dissident group within Pakistan People’s Party made their first public appearance under Arbab Hizar Hayyat Khan from Kyber Pukhtukhwa, announcing the formation of PPP Shaheed Benazir group and said they their party would take revenge of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto.
He said that PPP was established by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for the poor masses and after Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, Zardari had tarnished the image of the party by ignoring the problems of the people. The honest members of the party could not put up with people who were making use of the party’s resources for their own luxury and convenience and were ignoring the manifesto, he added. He said the lives of people were at their worst under the current regime, the leaders of which had no qualms about violating the verdict of Judiciary regarding the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO). The current leaders were following the agenda of former dictator Pervaiz Musharraf and that had allowed NATO to take undue advantage of the situation, he said. Crime and corruption had taken roots in the society, he added. He said that Awami National Party (ANP) and PPP government were using the Kalabagh Dam issue to seek attention and were originally oblivious to the needs of the masses.
He said that his party would solve the mystery of Benazir’s assassination and would look for support amongst the party workers in Sindh who were sick of the present regime.
