Royal Palm hosts reception for women cricketers
LAHORE: The Royal Palm Golf and Country Club Wednesday hosted a reception in honour of the Asian Games gold medal winning Pakistan women cricket team. The girls and the coaching staff of the team were accorded standing ovation and were presented with shields. The team was accompanied by PCB Women Wing Chairperson Bushra Aitzaz.

Women must rise against violence
LAHORE: South Asia Partnership (SAP) marked 16 days against gender violence, paying tribute to the three American sisters who were physically tortured when they tried to raise their voice against autocracy.
The SAP event brought together change makers, both women and men, from all districts of Punjab. It was discussed that violence against women was present at, at least, three different levels; personal, community based, and regional/national.

10 women among 14 killed in Buner roof collapse
BUNER: At least 14 people, including 10 women and a child, were killed and over 40 were injured when the roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in Jorre area of Buner district on Tuesday.
Per details, the roof collapsed in the morning, when villagers were present in the house to condole the death of a member of the family living in the house.
More than 50 people were in the house, of which a majority was sitting on the roof when it caved in.

The US will train 10,000 Pakistani women in various fields and provide $2 billion in foreign military assistance to Pakistan.
US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureishi held a joint press conference after the end of a third round of US-Pakistan strategic talks on Friday. The announcement of military assistance, which will be delivered over five years from 2012 to 2016, came at the opening of the talks.

New Zealand's national museum on Tuesday warned pregnant or menstruating women to stay away from some of its exhibits or risk an encounter with angry Maori spirits.
