Wheat procurement campaign to begin from April 17

SAHIWAL - The Punjab government will start wheat procurement campaign in the province from 17th of next month during which 3.5 million metric tons wheat will be procured mainly from small farmers to ensure financial benefits to them. During this campaign, 423,000 metric tons wheat will be procured from Sahiwal division, including 171,000 tons from district Sahiwal, 160000 from Okara and 92000 metric ton from district Pakpattan.

Rs 165b credit for wheat procurement

ISLAMABAD - The government has decided to extend a guarantee of Rs 165 billion credit needed for this year's wheat procurement target of 6.57 million tonnes, but the guarantee is subject to the availability of credit to be provided by commercial banks, an official source said.

LAHORE - Punjab Food Minister Abdul Ghafoor announced formation of supervisory teams at district, tehsil and union council levels to monitor wheat procurement campaign in the province. Government asked to steer clear of wheat drive
