LAHORE - The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has transferred the remaining Rs 3.0 billion to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government for compensation of built-up property belonging to those affected by the Mangla Dam Raising Project. ECC allows WAPDA to raise Rs 20b for Bhasha dam

ISLAMABAD - To expedite the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam, the government on Thursday allowed the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to raise Rs 20 billion from the market through Sukuk and Term Finance Certificates (TFC).

WAPDA inks hydroelectric agreement

LAHORE - Pakistan Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) and SAMBU-SARCO have signed an agreement worth Rs 7.52 billion at WAPDA House on Monday for Lot-II of 106MW Golen Gol Hydropower Project.
North Projects General Manager Fazal-e-Mabood and SAMBU Board of Representatives Chairman Oh Sung Hoon signed the agreement. Golen Gol Lot-II involves construction of diversion weir, intake, gravel trap, sand trap, headrace tunnel, pressure shaft, pressure tunnel and roads.

Groundbreaking for WAPDA offices shortly

LAHORE: The groundbreaking of WAPDA offices and colonies of Diamer Basha dam is expected next month. The Federal government has already released and handed over an initial sum of Rs 700 million to the deputy commissioner of Diamer for acquisition of land in Gilgit-Baltistan.

LAHORE: Former Chairman WAPDA, Shamsul Mulk has said that Kalabagh Dam is a national issue and needs attention, denying the perception that it is just the issue of Punjab.
Shamsul Mulk said that his province has suffered the most, due to delay in construction of Kalabagh Dam, as recent floods that hit Nowshera resulted in the water level to reach 961 feet.
