ISLAMABAD - Head of USAID surprised Pakistan by diverting his scheduled visit to India, well-placed sources told Online on Sunday. According to the sources, chief of parties or commonly known as head of the projects being funded or initiated by the USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah was scheduled to visit Pakistan. But he diverted his visit to India, the sources added.

LAHORE - The USAID funded Pre-STEP program sponsored a Strategic Planning workshop, which concluded at Pearl Continental Hotel on Wednesday. The workshop was the first in a series of other related activities planned for the year. It intends to introduce Strategic Planning as a tool to improve quality of teacher education in 15 Pre-STEP partner public universities under its Pre-Service Teacher Education Program.

LAHORE - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has released the first tranche of $20 million to the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) for the Gomal Zam Dam Project. The USAID had signed an agreement with WAPDA last month for providing $40 million to help complete the Gomal Zam Dam Project.
