Royal Palm Cricket gets underway

LAHORE - The four-day Annual Royal Palm Floodlit Cricket Tournament endorsed by Coke, Highland, GNC and FR Cables took off at the superbly lit cricket arena of the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club.
At the end of the first day, four out of the 16 teams, Warriors, Lahore Eagles, Giants and Punjab Warriors stood eliminated after some fascinating battles with the winning teams, like Lahore Strikers, Punjab Kings, Lions and Royal Eagles.

Junior Squash C’ship underway at PSA Complex

LAHORE - The Punjab National Junior Squash Championship 2011 rolled into action here at the PSA Complex on Wednesday. On the opening day, qualification round matches were played after Tariq Rana, Honorary Secretary Punjab Squash Association, took out the draws.
Sixty-four matches in different age groups of under-11, 13, 15 and 19 were held. On day two, some of the third round qualification matches will be played, followed by the main round matches.

Athletics training camp underway

LAHORE - The Punjab Sports Board has organized an Athletics Training Camp for the Inter-provincial level, Chief Minister's Sports competitions 2010-2011 in the Punjab Stadium from January 16, 2011. A team comprising officials and athletes will travel to Karachi on January 22, where the inter-provincial athletics competitions will be held on January 24 and 25.

Caanchi & Lugari Cup gets underway

LAHORE - Guard Group/Diamond Paints, The President's Bodyguard and Ciro's Pomodoro won their opening day matches of the Caanchi & Lugari Pakistan Polo Cup here at the Lahore Polo Club ground on Monday.

PU Inter-collegiate Badminton gets underway

LAHORE - The Punjab University Inter-collegiate Badminton Championship rolled into action here at the PU Gymnasium Hall on Tuesday.

District events get underway in CM Sports Cup

LAHORE - The district level competitions of the Chief Minister's Cup Sports will roll into action from today at various venues of the province.
After the completion of the competitions at the Tehsil level the next competitions will start today.
The tehsil level events were held from December 20 to 25 and after the district level, events the competition will be played at division and provincial level till February 09, 2011.

Punjab Tennis Championship gets underway

LAHORE: The Punjab Tennis Championship sponsored by Service Industries rolled into action here at the Bagh-e-Jinnah's courts on Thursday. Tournament Director Rashid Malik said that keeping in view the extensive interest in the championship, they have decided to hold the men's singles event on the opening day and many seeded junior players have made it to the next round. The championship will be featuring players of the under-12, 14, 18 categories.
