Politicians bemoan army mediation in political issue

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision to ask Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif to mediate a solution for breaking the deadlock with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has drawn criticism from political circles, with some leaders lashing out at both the PML-N and PTI for agreeing on mediation by the army chief.

Model Town murders come to haunt PML-N

The embattled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday found itself grappling with yet another challenge after a private news channel aired contents of the judicial commission’s report into the Model Town killings incident in which the investigating judge has laid the onus of the massacre of 14 political workers on the Punjab government administered by Sharif’s younger brother, Shahbaz Sharif.


PTI chief Imran Khan raised many an eyebrow when during an address to his supporters late on Thursday, the cricket star-turned politician said that the “umpire could raise his finger in the next two days” unless Prime Minister Sharif heeds to PTI’s demand of stepping down from office.
